Sally has been a Recommended Associate of the Intelligent Horsemanship Association since 2007. Her childhood passion for horses led to her achieving her BHSAI when she left school, and her experience widened as she taught riding part time first at Bramley Riding School, then the Blewbury Centre, and finally at Bradfield Riding Centre for nearly ten years.
In 2000, the way she worked with horses was dramatically changed by watching a demonstration by Michael Peace, trained by Monty Roberts, using join-up as a way to communicate with horses without using violence. Since then she has replaced sticks with wip wop ropes and has eliminated all violence in the way she educates horses. Out of interest she began taking the horsemanship courses run by Kelly Marks, but interest turned to determination and in 2005 found she had gained the Monty Roberts Preliminary Certificate of Horsemanship.
Since beginning her work as as an RA, Sally has found that she has been able to help people with loading and leading problems, napping horses, horses you can't catch, won't stop, are frightened of traffic and various other issues. She still hugely enjoys teaching riding, and has been able to help several people with confidence issues. She is fascinated by different riding techniques, and besides Monty Roberts, has been influenced by Sally Swift, Mary Wanless, Mark Rashid and Gerd Heuschmann.
